Coleus, a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae), is a popular ornamental plant prized for its brightly coloured and patterned foliage, rather than its flowers. They are native to tropical regions of Asia and Africa and can grow up to 3 feet tall, with some varieties having a trailing or mounding growth habit. They can grow inside as a tropical plant all year round as well they are used for shady areas in outdoor gardening.
